Riding bikes on a trainer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_Wg3Z1qtdI If it is dark, cold, too late or too early to ride on the road. This is the solution. Riding on a trainer. Norm Kibble, a professional coach for 25 years, gives his class a searing high speed and power interval workout. Biography I started racing when I was 19 years old. My first race was with Tina Mayola, NOW the highest ranked woman in the country. But in this year it was also her first year racing. Before we started, I asked if it was going to be fast at the start. I didn’t kn know. Someone told me that yes it would be a fast start. So when we lined up, and the officials told us to go, I sprinted as fast as I could. I was so nervous. I thought I was going to get dropped. But only Tina came with me. We rotated away from the field and we worked together. She won all the primes and the race. I got second. I was happy because I had survived my first race. This started my life as a racer. Over time, I went in and out of cycling. I lived and raced all over…east coast, west coach, south, and Texas. I also fringed a little in European racing and races out of France and Italy. I’ve done well and I’ve been crushed. I learned to go into every race and every ride with the intention of doing my best, and expecting only that. At 28, I decided to quit racing. I was going to move onto other things. I did. But at 32, I moved to Tucson, Arizona. This city has the cycling bug riding around its streets. I started riding again with the intention of making friends and meeting new people. Everyone in this town seems to ride bikes. A year and a half later, I have met many great people. Now, I ride my bike for different reasons. I ride it because of the people in it. Riding my bike with all the great people in this sport, has given me hope and salvation. This has reminded me that there are a lot of good people in the world. I have started these videos as a way to give voice to the people in this great sport. If you have a story that needs to be told, tell me and time permitting me, I will give you a voice. Jennifer Weaver jenniferawhile@aol.com |
