Who am I?
Alicia R. Heiserer  Racing age 47
Hi, I am Alicia Rosemarie Heiserer, born and raised
in New York. I moved out to Tucson in 1993. As a child
and a teen, my brother and I rode our bicycles
everywhere, just probably a little further then most
neighborhood kids. We had no problem hopping on
our bikes and heading to Smiths Point Beach, which
was 20 miles away. We normally were in trouble
when we got home but it was worth it.

My love of riding stayed with me but never having been
exposed to racing in person or even on TV, I just rode
for fun and transportation.
When I moved to Tucson I got my 1st taste of what
cycling and racing could be but it had to wait as I just
had my second child, a new home and a new career
in
Real Estate and Management. I have been with
Diversified Equity Corporation since 1993 and we can
help you with all your Real Estate needs. See my
contact page for all the numbers.

In 1997 I did my 1st Cross State Tour with GABA
across Arizona, and my love of cycling continued to
grow. In 1998 I joined
Fairwheel Racing Team and
started training for
El Tour and some local USCF
races. In 1999 I got my USCF license and loved every
minute of it.

I raced for two years before I became a Cat 2 Women’
s racer and then picked up Tandem Racing and
started racing Women’s tandems. My 1st stoker was
my daughter Arianne. We trained hard and we won the
State Time trial when she was just 15. My 2nd stoker,
Mary Jo Erickson and I have won all of the
PBAA races
in our category and we hold the record on those
courses also. We also have won numerous State
titles. My third and last female stoker, Holly Lopez, and
I have won the
National Title for the Road and Time
Trial together in Salt Lake.

Just so you know that I don’t always have to be in
control, I have also taken the back seat on the
tandem. Gary Epple and I have won the
Mt Graham
Hill climb on the Tandem in the Mixed Category and
David Beirne, and I have won Nationals together in the
Mixed Tandem Category in Louisville, Kentucky.

I have been so lucky to have my very close friends be
my tandem partners, team members and race
partners and still be the best of friends afterwards.

I am not sure how much more racing I will be doing
but I have been a
USCF Official and Motorcycle Official
for the last 3 years and enjoy working the races. I have
been helping to promote 2 races each year. I am also
a Norba Official.
Last year I got certified as a League Certified
Instructor for the
League of American Bicycling to help
teach new cyclists bicycle safety. I have just been
certified as a
Team In Training Coach for the
Leukemia/Lymphoma Society and will be training
cyclists in Tucson for
America’s Most Beautiful Bike
Ride
in Lake Tahoe.  I will be certified as a USCF
Cycling Coach within the next month also. Last, but
not least as far as cycling goes, I am on the Board of
Arizona Bicycle Racing Association,
ABRA.

But I am not only a cyclist. The past fall I was certified
with my oldest daughter, Arianne, in Scuba diving and
my youngest is looking forward to getting her
certification when she decides that she doesn’t want
to race her bicycle for a little while. Stephanie, my
youngest, just won the Best All Around Junior Female
in Arizona this year, at the age of 11.

And I also love to garden, socialize with all those
people listed above and more and I look forward to
more traveling.

So, welcome to my site and please feel free to give
me any feedback.
